Psychotherapy FAQs

What is your approach with individuals?
Warm, open, engaged. I listen and ask questions that will help you think about yourself and your life from a different perspective. I acknowledge that individuals are social beings and are greatly influenced by their culture, family and workplace.

I studied interpersonal psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute. And I have done training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I received a certificate in Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy through the Center for Optimal Living.

What is your approach with couples?
Warm, engaged, and sometimes playful. I make sure each partner feels heard and understood. I don’t take sides. My goal is to strengthen your bond so that you feel safe and nurtured within the relationship. I studied couples therapy through the Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Couples Institute. I continue to augment my education through ongoing supervision and course work.

In couples therapy you will learn:
First and foremost, you will learn about your partner’s operating system–their vulnerable spots and the reasons the react the way they do. We often assume we know what drives our partners, but most of us make some faulty assumptions.

We will focus on on how to communicate effectively, how to build trust, safety and security and how to create and nurture emotional intimacy.

What are your fees?
Email me and we can discuss: LesleyAldermanLCSW@gmail.com

Do you take insurance?
I am not in network with any insurance companies. If your insurer covers out of network providers you will likely be reimbursed for a portion of the fee.

Questions to ask your insurer:

“Do I have out of network benefits for behavioral health treatment?”

If yes, “What percent of the fee will you cover?”

“What is the deductible that I must first meet before getting reimbursed?”
